Mapili is a project about creating a communal space around an elder with the intention of keeping them connected to family and friends. The primary challenge was designing an interface for a demographic who might not be the most technologically literate and ensuring they would still be able to use and enjoy the product. This required research into accessibility standards and making design decisions within an accessibility first framework.

Overview

Problem: How can we create place for elders and their friends and family to easily share experiences and stories in order to keep our elders up to date and informed on the family continuously.

Users & audience: Family and friend with elders in an elder care facility.

Scope: Build a strong prototype and the core functionalities of the app in order to get the project funded by the Government of Quebec.

Work

Our responsibility was to create a clickable prototype on both desktop and mobile to test with real users and get feedback to refine and ensure that the product was accessible and easy to use.

  1. Create the visual identity for Mapili
  2. Understand the information architecture of the application.
  3. Create wireframes to explore the different functionalities required by the client
  4. Refine the wireframes and expand on the visual identity to create a branded UI
  5. Create a thorough clickable onboarding and core functionality prototype in Figma.
